"Catholic" Democrats Urge Pro-Life Congressmen to Fast From "Bipartisanship"

Catholic Democrats is yet another cog in the left-wing "catholic" socialist machine that is undermining the true Catholic voice in political arenas.  Witness this press release that they issued a few days ago to urge Catholics to "provide leadership in wake of bipartisan summit."  Now read this thing!  Notice to whom it is addressed.  It is addressed only to the Minority Leader, John Boehner.  Why isn't this admonition to "bipartisanship" addressed also to the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi?  I find this curious!  This statement ostensibly urges bipartisanship, yet it is addressed only to one party - the one opposing the Hell Bill.  The Democrats are conveniently let off the hook here!  I find that very, very partisan on the part of the Catholic Democrats!  Don't you?

Also notice that this release was issued in the name of Lent!  The Republicans (not the Democrats!) are being admonished to "fast" from bipartisanship, yet this release is itself partisan.  How stupid do they think we are?

Perhaps the Catholic Democrats should go back to the "lenten carbon fast" and stop killing the trees by their press releases and cut down on greenhouse gases by closing their mouths.

  1. The Catholic Church has long supported affordable, universal health care. That support is deeply rooted in Christ's lessons to care for the sick and less fortunate among us. The Church and its members have also long known the sin of abortion. The Church could have had both their goals met. The Church failed in this regard due to it's refusal to put any significant pressure on the Republican Catholics. The Democrats were more than willing to adopt the stricter anti-abortion language the church wanted IF the church could help deliver support for the bill from Republican congress persons. The church did not even try. So why urge only the republicans to forsake partisanship? Easy. The Democrats were willing to deal. The Republicans were not.

  2. I’m afraid you are quite naïve about politics in Washington (or are putting on a good act). Democrats were willing to deal on the so-called “Stupak amendment” because they knew full well that subsequent legislation would retrieve the doggie-bones that were tossed to the pro-lifers. And so it happened after the first House vote – the Senate stripped that amendment, and just yesterday replaced it with an “executive order” – which won’t hold any water in the face of subsequent legislation.

Let’s look at this health bill. Does the Church support the mandated “counseling” that seniors will be required to obtain every 5 years to discuss “end of life” options? Does the Church support the fact that bureaucrats will be deciding benefits? Does the Church support the inevitable rationing that will occur? Sadly, the USCCB et al have been abysmally silent regarding these crucial matters. They have been equally silent regarding the violence done to the principle of subsidiarity, which states that societal problems must be resolved at the most local and least centralized method possible. That’s something that the liberals at the USCCB outwardly pooh-pooh. These are a few reasons why “Catholic Democrats” have acted disingenuously.
